Temporary access permits for long haul truckers are now required by the Ports of Long Beach, CA or Los Angeles, CA if you are not affiliated with what the ports now recognize as "CONCESSIONAIRES"!
The temporary permit cost the trucker $100 and can be purchased online at the web site set up just for the purpose of collecting that $100.
It almost seems that the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles want that web site to NOT be to easy to find so I have been trying to get the link out on several of my sources so that at least truckers who read or visit any of my regular haunts will at least know where to find a link.
